Hannah's New Trick

The other day while Hunter was napping, Hannah and I were working on laundry. (Okay, I was folding laundry and she was unfolding, but we were technically both working on it!) When she grew tired of "helping" me, she wandered into the other room. When I couldn't see her anymore, I called for her and she didn't answer. I got a little concerned because quiet with a nineteen-month-old generally means trouble. I called her name again and she answered, but I couldn't quite figure out where she was.
No wonder! She crawled under the bed to catch a cat. Our poor cats desperately try to hide during the day when little feet equal unwanted attention, but their hiding places never remain secret for very long. I have no doubt that she learned this trick from her big brother. I am constantly amazed at how quickly she learns to imitate the things he does. It makes me smile but it also breaks my heart - she's just growing up too fast.

Back to Dee Dee's House

Last week the kids and I drove back up to my mom's to spend a little time with her and my sister. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time!! We even had a chance to visit the local children's museum.

I love my Aunt Steph!!

'Nise, thanks for the fun art set!

On the Town

My friend Julie (we've been friends since the second grade) and her fiance' drove down for the weekend. Early Saturday morning we headed to the French Quarter for coffee and beignets followed by some sightseeing. The weather was gorgeous and we had so much fun; the kids even took great naps that afternoon! Thanks for coming you two - we hope to see you again soon!

Yummy!

She's serious about her food!

What a Turkey!

Hannah and Hunter equally adore her new baby stroller. Hunter quickly realized that he could get a free ride around the house and Hannah willingly complied; however, Pete and I put a halt to that little adventure. We explained to Hunter that he was too big for Sissy's baby stroller and he might break it. We showed him how the fabric would tear if he continued to sit on it. He was sad but he seemed agreeable.

The other day I find the two of them rounding the corner with Hunter in the stroller again. I couldn't get him to time-out fast enough; through his protests he was trying to show/tell me that he didn't break it - in his words, "I fixed it!"

My crafty little turkey detached the fabric seat from the stroller and was sitting on the frame as opposed to the actual seat. We told him not to ride in the stroller, yet he fixed it so the seat wouldn't tear and he could still have his fun. I found myself backpeddling a little bit and re-explaining that he was simply too big for the stroller at all - only baby dolls were to sit in the stroller from now on. With his bottom lip sticking out, Hunter begrudgingly agreed.

If he figured that out at three, I'm slightly concerned to think of what he'll be doing in years to come. I think it's safe to say that these two will keep us on our toes!

Mystery Solved - Problem Remains

It took a bit of investigating, but I have finally solved the mystery of the missing pants. As evidenced in several previous posts, Hunter has a bit of an issue with pants. I thought he was just not happy with the transition from shorts to pants since the weather was changing during his initial revolt. However, I have since learned that is not the case at all. In reality, he has an issue with Hannah not wearing pants when she is wearing dresses/skirts, so he has decided that he shouldn't have to wear pants when she isn't. Fair is fair!

I arrived at this conclusion after a lengthy discussion with Hunter. I was trying (rather unsuccessfully) to convince him to put his pants back on. I tried using examples like Mommom (that's what he insists on calling me-and he fully pronounces it) is wearing her pants and Dad is wearing his pants; at this point, he calmly tells me, "Sissy not wear pants!" Then it all made sense. He won't wear his pants if she isn't wearing hers. I guess Hannah will be wearing more pants until we reach a compromise on this issue.

Playing in their very own kitchen cabinet - minus the pants!

Hats

Hunter loves his hats; he rarely goes anywhere without one. Hannah, who has a plethora of hats, refuses to wear one at all costs - until now. When Hunter put his hat on yesterday, Hannah insisted on having one too; not one of the precious hats in her room though, Hannah wanted one of Hunter's baseball caps - she loves her big brother!

What's for Dinner?

With their new kitchen in place, these two have been working hard to create some delicious concoctions - syrup with onions anyone?. Hunter favors his homemade cupcakes while Hannah prefers the fruit selections; in real life, Hunter has little to do with sweets but Hannah still loves her fruit. Of course, their preferences tend to change on a whim. We'll just have to see what tomorrow holds!
