We have several friends who are first responders still in the area, but we do not expect to hear any news from them until after the storm passes later today. Mom's local PBS affiliate has a live feed from a station in New Orleans, so we can watch the news down there as it happens.
Right now, the winds and rain are picking up and power is out for about half of the westbank. The best news right now is the surge expectations have dropped again for our area to between 5 and 10 feet. Officials are saying the levees should hold which would keep flood waters out of the majority of the westbank area.
I guess landfall is expecte sometime later this morning, so we'll know more then.
Thanks for everything!
